Concussion and Vestibular Physical Therapy

Our therapists will thoroughly assess and evaluate symptoms to establish the best treatment concussion protocol for the individual. Our Physical Therapists are also certified by the American Institute Of Balance (AIB), the gold standard in concussion rehabilitation.

Exercise Therapy: Many individuals have an overall reduction in activity tolerance post-concussion. An individualized exercise program can help to reduce symptoms, improve blood flow, and improve their threshold for activity.

Manual Therapy: Whiplash-type injuries are frequently correlated with concussions and benefit from hands on treatment including dry needling, fascial cupping, and soft-tissue mobilization to reduce adhesions and improve the quality of tissue movement.

Vestibular and Visual Rehab: Exercises focusing on balance and vision will be instrumental in reducing double or blurred vision, dizziness, and concentration difficulties. These include training of vestibular-ocular reflexes, convergence, and saccadic movements of the eyes.

Diet and Nutrition: Research suggests that pro-inflammatory foods should be avoided and replaced with more nutritious options including fruits and vegetables. This will help reduce the inflammatory and metabolic factors that may contribute to persistent symptoms.

Education: Concussion symptoms can be alarming for individuals. This is especially true when symptoms persist for weeks or months. We include extensive education regarding symptoms, prognosis, and treatments in order to help the rehab process be as stress-free as possible.

How to get start with us

Here are the simple steps… Once you have filled out our new patient questionnaire, a clinical from our team will take you through a thorough history & examination which allows us to render an accurate diagnosis of your condition.
